The first of three ways to work with JRO
One session can be a valuable starting point: a way to meet JRO, feel how he works and receive guidance to take home.
When there is a specific health concern to address, JRO recommends a minimum of three sessions to begin a healing process. The three healing days begin that process, and the Deep Healing Journey gives it the most time of all.
What one session includes
Every session follows the same four movements, shaped each time around the person in front of JRO.
- Reading and assessment
Before anything else, JRO reads your condition through aura, energy and touch.
- An individual treatment
Energy work with JRO’s distinctive form of muscle and nerve acupressure, following what your body reveals rather than a fixed sequence.
- Two herbal preparations
Two herbal preparations to drink. Their cost is included in the session.
- Personalised guidance
Guidance on food, herbal medicine and daily habits to continue after the session.
What a visit looks like, step by step
What follows is a traditional healing day as the local community experiences it. For international visitors, the reading and the treatment stay private and the blessing ritual is not given.

Arrival and registration
Clients arrive, take a number and are welcomed in order of arrival. Names are recorded in the official patient register, the Buku Pasien.
Local clients arrive carrying traditional offerings and a bottle of water.

The reading
JRO reads each person’s condition through aura, energy and touch. What he finds shapes the treatment that follows, which is why no two sessions are the same.
For local clients the reading traditionally happens in front of the community, where sharing difficulties within a trusted circle is natural. The gathering itself becomes part of the healing space. For international clients it stays entirely private.

The importance of family
In Bali a person who is ill rarely travels alone. Parents, children and siblings may make a long journey together, as an expression of respect and solidarity.
Because emotional stress and family relationships can influence wellbeing, JRO sees this support as part of the process. Family may stay present during the treatment.

Prayer, offerings and holy water
Before the individual treatments, JRO prays, presents offerings and honours his ancestors and the source of the energy he works through.
During this ritual he blesses the water each family has brought, which becomes tirta, or holy water, to take home. For JRO, prayer is how he asks permission, protection and guidance before beginning.

The individual treatment
An individual session combines energy work with JRO’s distinctive form of muscle and nerve acupressure. He does not follow a fixed technique: through touch, he senses where the body has moved away from its natural line and follows the chain of tension from one area to the next. As one blockage releases, the body reveals where he needs to work next.
As JRO works to open a blockage, it usually feels painful. Areas that have been restricted for a long time can be particularly sensitive and may need progressive work across several sessions. Emotions may also surface as the body releases tension. Whatever arises is welcome, and you are given the space to feel and express it without judgement.
Returning “to the line” means more than physical alignment: it means helping the different parts of the body reconnect, communicate and work together again.

Blessing and guidance
At the end of the treatment JRO gives blessings and guidance on food, herbal medicine and daily habits.
Coming to see us
A few things worth knowing before your visit. Tell us if you need anything not covered here.
- A private setting
For international visitors, the reading and the treatment take place privately, not in the communal space where local clients gather.
- Coming with a caregiver
One caregiver or family member is welcome to stay with you free of charge if you are comfortable sharing accommodation. The private villa has two double beds.
- Accessibility
The treatment room has step-free wheelchair access, and we keep two wheelchairs on site. If walking or travelling between sessions is difficult, private accommodation is available at the Healing Home.
- Transport
Our trusted driver, Putu (affectionately known as Papa) can collect you from the airport or anywhere in Bali and help with transport throughout your stay. Please let us know before your visit if you need any additional support.

This is the first of the three ways to work with JRO. The three healing days begin a healing process, and the Deep Healing Journey gives it the most time of all.
Traditional healing in Bali has long been rooted in a culture of donation. JRO continues this with local families, accepting what each can afford, so no one is turned away for lack of money. The set contribution for international visitors is part of that same chain of giving, and it is what allows JRO to keep treating local families while we continue building the healing centre.
